16-Year-Old Held As Police Recover Fake Pistol Used In Amansea Robbery

Operatives of the Anambra State Police Command have arrested a 16-year-old boy suspected of playing a role in an armed robbery incident at a hotel in Amansea, Awka North Local Government Area of the state.
According to the Police Public Relations Officer, Anambra State Police Command, SP Ikenga Tochukwu, the arrest was made by operatives attached to B Division, Amansea, in the early hours of September 2, 2026, during a routine security patrol.
Police say the teenager was apprehended in connection with an attack on a guest at a hotel in the area, during which the victim was allegedly dispossessed of her mobile phone and other personal belongings. Two other accomplices believed to be involved in the incident are said to be currently at large.
During the arrest, operatives recovered a shiny metallic lighter fashioned to resemble a pistol, which the suspect allegedly used to threaten and intimidate the victim into handing over her valuables.
Under interrogation, the suspect reportedly admitted to using the fake weapon to carry out the robbery.
The Police Command says investigations have been intensified to track down the fleeing accomplices, recover the stolen items, and ensure that everyone involved is brought to justice.
