Troops Neutralise Terrorists, Intercept Ammunition Courier In Zamfara, Kaduna

Troops of the Joint Task Force North West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA (JTF NW OPFY), have neutralised terrorists and intercepted a large cache of ammunition during separate operations in Zamfara and Kaduna States on September 2, 2026.
According to the Media Information Officer, Joint Task Force (North West), Lieutenant Colonel Aliyu Danja, the operations were carried out by troops acting on credible intelligence in both states.
In Zamfara State, troops of Sector 2 received intelligence on the movement of terrorists from the Fakai general area towards Kwanar Jolof and Tashar Dole in Shinkafi and Zurmi Local Government Areas. Acting swiftly, the troops ambushed the terrorists at Kwanar Jolof, engaging them in a fierce exchange that neutralised scores of them, while others fled in disarray.
A search of the area afterward led to the recovery of one rocket-propelled grenade (RPG) launcher, one RPG bomb, one AK-47 rifle, six AK-47 magazines, 106 rounds of ammunition, and one motorcycle, among other items.
In a similar operation in Kaduna State on the same day, troops of Sector 1 intercepted a vehicle at a checkpoint along the Saulawa–Zaria Road. During the search, one of the passengers resisted inspection of his bag and attempted to flee after being compelled to open it. Troops pursued and neutralised the suspect.
A search of the bag uncovered 793 rounds of ammunition concealed inside gari. The vehicle and its driver have been taken into military custody for further investigation.
The military said the twin operations form part of a sustained offensive by Operation FANSAN YAMMA troops to dismantle terrorist networks, disrupt the flow of arms and ammunition, and deny terrorists freedom of action across the Joint Operations Area.
Troops of Operation FANSAN YAMMA say they remain resolute in the fight against terrorism and committed to restoring lasting peace to affected communities in the region.
