Nonye Soludo Empowers Women Living With HIV, ANSACA Plans Skills Centre
Women living with HIV under the Network of People Living with HIV/AIDS in Nigeria, NEPWHAN, Anambra State chapter, have received equipment and financial support from the wife of the Anambra State Governor, Dr. Mrs. Nonye Soludo.
The intervention is aimed at improving the beneficiaries’ livelihoods, promoting financial independence and supporting them to lead productive and dignified lives.
Speaking during the engagement, the Executive Director of the Anambra State AIDS Control Agency, ANSACA, Dr. Nkem Okeke, commended Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo for creating an enabling environment for a stronger HIV response in the state.
Dr. Okeke also appreciated Dr. Mrs. Nonye Soludo for her sustained commitment to supporting vulnerable women, describing the empowerment as a practical demonstration that HIV care must extend beyond medical treatment to include economic support and social inclusion.
He disclosed that ANSACA is working towards establishing a dedicated Skills Acquisition and Empowerment Centre for women living with HIV, where beneficiaries will receive training in areas such as fashion designing, baking and other income generating skills.
“Our goal is not only to ensure that people living with HIV have access to treatment, but also that they are empowered to live healthy, productive and economically independent lives,” Okeke said.
He urged the beneficiaries to make judicious use of the support provided and assured them of ANSACA’s continued partnership, stressing that the state’s HIV response remains focused on treatment, dignity, empowerment and the elimination of stigma.
