Nibo Holiday Skills Training Ends With Students’ Product Exhibition

A one month holiday skills training for students in Nibo, Awka South Local Government Area, has ended with an exhibition of products made by the participating schoolchildren.

The training, organised by the Nibo Christian Brethren Association, equipped the students with practical skills including fashion designing, gele tying, baking, shoemaking, painting, liquid soap production, perfume making, yoghurt and parfait production, meat pie making, aluminium window production and other vocational skills.

Some of the trainees, including Esther Chikaeke, Favour Okafor and Joan Michael, displayed products from their various areas of training and expressed confidence in their ability to produce the items independently. They appreciated the association for providing them with practical skills that could support their future self reliance.

President of the Nibo Christian Brethren Association, Prof. Gabriel Egwuonwu, said the programme began in 2022 and has become an annual initiative aimed at equipping young people with useful skills, including emerging areas such as Artificial Intelligence.

Egwuonwu disclosed that the association plans to introduce startup funding for participants from December to enable them turn their skills into businesses. He also appealed to Ndi Nibo and other stakeholders to support the initiative through patronage and other forms of assistance.

The exhibition featured cakes, clothing, chin chin, shoes, sandals, paints, aluminium windows, remote control cars, parfait, bleach and other products made by the students.
