Osun Police Confirm Two Dead in Ikire Clash, Launch Investigation

The Osun State Police Command has confirmed the death of two persons following a clash at the Naira and Kobo Motor Park in Ikire, Irewole Local Government Area.

The incident occurred on Monday, amid reports of violence in the town. While initial reports claimed that as many as five people had been killed, the Police Command said it has so far confirmed two fatalities.

The newly deployed Commissioner of Police, Osun State Command, CP Ibrahim Zungura, alongside the Commissioner of Police in charge of the Osun election, CP Samuel Etaifo, visited Ikire following the incident.

The two senior police officers assured residents that the circumstances surrounding the clash would be thoroughly investigated, with anyone found to have participated in the violence facing the full weight of the law.

The Command urged residents to remain calm and avoid spreading unverified information as investigations continue to establish what led to the deadly confrontation.
