Married Father Of Two Arrested For Allegedly Posing As Catholic Priest In Kenya

A married father of two has been arrested in Kenya for allegedly impersonating a Catholic priest and conducting Masses and administering sacraments at several churches in Turkana County.

The suspect, identified as Jones Bogonko Onchonga, is accused of allegedly using forged Church documents to present himself as a priest of the Diocese of Lodwar.

According to reports, Onchonga allegedly celebrated Mass and performed priestly duties at St. Augustine Cathedral in Kalokol, St. Thomas Chapel and St. Mary’s Lodaraja.

In an unusual twist, the alleged impostor was reportedly seen celebrating Mass alongside the Catholic Bishop of Lodwar, Bishop John Mbinda, before his identity was eventually uncovered.

The Diocese of Lodwar has since publicly disowned Onchonga as a Catholic priest and warned members of the public against engaging him to perform any priestly duties or administer sacraments.

The development has sparked questions over how the suspect allegedly managed to gain access to different parishes and perform religious functions without being detected.

Police have launched an investigation into the alleged forgery, including how Onchonga obtained the documents and gained access to the churches.
