ASTUC Youth Ladies Wing Honour 21 Anambra Women as Role Models

The Youth Ladies Wing of the Anambra State Town Union Council, ASTUC, has honoured 21 outstanding women, one from each local government area of the state, for their contributions to community development and girl child empowerment.

Speaking at the ceremony held at the ASTUC Hall, Old Government House, Awka, Deputy Governor Dr. Onyekachukwu Ibezim described Anambra women as change makers and commended the organisers for recognising their contributions to society.

He urged the honourees to remain focused and continue serving as positive role models for the younger generation.

ASTUC Youths President General, Comrade Ken Okoli, said the recognition was introduced to celebrate women who have championed girl child development and upheld the values of Anambra communities.

The Youth Ladies Wing Coordinator, Lady Anthonia Onumah, said the initiative was designed to inspire young girls by showcasing women who have distinguished themselves despite challenges.

The event also featured commendations from state government officials and other dignitaries, while some of the award recipients expressed appreciation, describing the recognition as a motivation to do more for their communities and the girl child.
