#OsunDecides2026: Police Arrest Accord Lawmaker Over Alleged Importation of 300 Voters

The Osun State Police Command has arrested an Accord Party lawmaker, Abiola Ibrahim, over the alleged mobilisation of about 300 people from neighbouring states to vote in Saturday’s governorship election.

Ibrahim, who represents Irewole/Isokan Constituency in the state House of Assembly, was arrested on Friday night at his residence in Ikire alongside the suspected electoral mercenaries.

Police said more than 200 Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) were recovered during the operation, while about 300 individuals found at the residence are being profiled.

The police spokesperson, Abiodun Ojelabi, said the command acted after receiving a complaint concerning suspicious activities in the area.

He said the state remained peaceful and urged residents to come out and exercise their franchise, assuring them of adequate security.

The development comes amid heightened security operations across Osun ahead of the governorship election involving 15 candidates.
