Sanwo Olu Inspects Alakija Bridge After Vandalism Attempt, Assures Lagosians of Safety

Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo Olu, on Saturday inspected the Alakija Bridge following an alleged attempt by suspected vandals to damage part of the structure.

The inspection was carried out to assess the condition of the bridge and reassure residents and motorists following the incident.

Sanwo Olu assured Lagosians that the bridge remains safe, structurally sound and open to traffic, urging residents not to panic.

The governor commended security personnel from the Nigeria Police Force, Rapid Response Squad, Lagos State Environmental Sanitation Corps, Lagos State Traffic Management Authority and Neighbourhood Safety Corps for their swift response in securing the area.

According to the governor, some suspects have already been taken into custody, while security agencies are intensifying efforts to apprehend others believed to be connected with the incident.

He stressed the importance of protecting critical infrastructure, warning that acts of vandalism capable of endangering lives and disrupting transportation would not be tolerated.

The Alakija Bridge remains open for use as authorities continue investigations into the alleged vandalism attempt.
