Troops Rescue Kidnap Victim, Recover 126 Rustled Livestock

Troops of the Joint Task Force North West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have recorded fresh operational successes in Katsina State, rescuing a kidnap victim, arresting suspects and recovering a locally fabricated weapon as well as 126 rustled livestock.
The operations were conducted in separate locations across the state as security forces intensified efforts to disrupt terrorist and criminal activities.
In the early hours of July 26, troops working with the Katsina State Community Watch Corps responded to a distress call over suspected terrorist activity in Karkata Village, Charanchi Local Government Area.
The troops reportedly encountered the attackers while advancing towards the area and engaged them, forcing the suspects to abandon a kidnapped woman and flee into nearby bushes.
The victim was rescued unharmed and subsequently reunited with her family.
In another operation, troops of Sector 2, alongside personnel of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, conducted coordinated raids in Wagin, Tundu Mobi and Chadawaki communities in Batsari Local Government Area.
The operation resulted in the arrest of suspects and the recovery of a locally fabricated firearm with five cartridges, alongside other exhibits. The suspects and recovered items were handed over to the NDLEA for further investigation.
Also on July 26, troops acting on intelligence reportedly laid an ambush at a suspected terrorist crossing point in Yankwani Village, Bakori Local Government Area.
The troops engaged suspected terrorists allegedly attempting to move rustled livestock through the area. The suspects reportedly escaped under sustained pressure, abandoning 126 animals comprising 83 cows and 43 sheep.
The recovered livestock were handed over to the Chairman of the Peace Keeping Committee in Bakori, in the presence of local government officials, for identification and eventual return to their rightful owners.
The Theatre Commander of Operation FANSAN YAMMA commended the troops for their vigilance and gallantry, assuring residents of Katsina and the wider North West of the military’s continued commitment to sustained operations against terrorism and other criminal activities.
