Anambra Strengthens Citizen Engagement With Smart Grievance Redress Mechanism

By Angela Nwanodu

The Anambra State Government is strengthening citizen engagement and promoting more responsive public service delivery with the rollout of the SMART Anambra Grievance Redress Mechanism Portal- https://grm.anambrastate.gov.ng/, a digital platform designed to ensure that complaints, service delivery issues, and public feedback are received, tracked, and resolved through a transparent, structured, and accountable process.

Developed as part of the state’s digital governance agenda, the portal provides Ndi Anambra, businesses, and other stakeholders with a central channel to report service delivery concerns, submit complaints, and provide feedback on government services, while enabling concerned Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) to manage grievances efficiently through a standardised digital workflow.

To prepare participating MDAs for the deployment of the platform, the Anambra State ICT Agency organised a training session on July 23 for their designated representatives, equipping them with the knowledge and skills required to effectively manage grievances from submission through resolution.

Facilitated by Obiorah Ezeabikwa at the ICT Agency Conference Room, the session introduced participants to the portal’s complete grievance management ecosystem, including the Citizen Portal, Complaint Classification Engine, Administrator Dashboard and Officer Dashboard. Participants also received practical demonstrations on complaint assignment, case management, audit trails, automated notifications, escalation procedures, and Service Level Agreement (SLA) timelines that guide prompt resolution of cases.

The training further highlighted the portal’s reporting and analytics capabilities, which will provide MDAs with valuable insights into complaint trends, response times, and service delivery performance, supporting data-driven decision-making and continuous improvement across government.

Participants actively engaged during the demonstrations, particularly on the grievance workflow, officer assignment process, and escalation framework. The session also emphasised the importance of appointing dedicated Grievance Officers across MDAs and recommended follow-up hands-on sessions to reinforce practical use of the platform ahead of its wider implementation.

The SMART Anambra Grievance Redress Mechanism represents another milestone in the Soludo administration’s commitment to leveraging technology to build a more transparent, accountable, and citizen-centred government.

The initiative strengthens public service delivery by providing a structured platform for receiving, tracking, and resolving concerns, while ensuring that the voices of Ndi Anambra remain central to governance in line with Governor Prof. Chukwuma Charles Soludo’s vision of Everything Technology, Technology Everywhere.
