AMTY Celebrates Excellence at Fifth Anambra Man of the Year Awards
The fifth edition of the Anambra Man of the Year Awards, AMTY, has been held at the Stanel Dome in Awka, with distinguished individuals recognised for their excellence, leadership, innovation and contributions to the development of society.
The event, which brought together government officials, academics, business leaders, entertainment practitioners and other dignitaries, was held under the theme, “Unstoppable Anambra: Leveraging Human Capital for Global Impact.”
Delivering the keynote address, Professor Bond Anyaehie stressed the importance of investing in education, innovation, entrepreneurship and human capacity development as key drivers of sustainable growth. He urged Ndi Anambra to harness their talents and work collectively towards making the state globally competitive.
Among those honoured at the ceremony were the Archbishop of Onitsha and Metropolitan of Onitsha Ecclesiastical Province, Most Rev. Dr. Valerian Okeke; Deputy Vice Chancellor of Paul University, Professor Stella Okunna; Chairman of Mekens Integrated Nigeria Limited, Chief Anthony Obele; and Nollywood actor, Erics Ugo, among others.
The award recipients expressed appreciation to the organisers, describing the recognition as an encouragement to continue contributing meaningfully to society. They also called for greater investment in the creative industry, which they said remains an important source of employment, cultural promotion and economic development.
The Chairman of the occasion, Professor Joe Ezigbo, commended the organisers for sustaining the AMTY Awards over the years, describing the initiative as a platform that celebrates excellence and inspires future generations.
The Co founder of AMTY, Mr. Chikezie Chiedu, said the awards were established to celebrate Anambra, encourage excellence, professionalism and dedication, while recognising individuals whose achievements continue to inspire others.
The Chairman of the Planning Committee, Sr. Prof. Adaoma Igwedibia, and a member of the Organising Committee, Mr. Igwebike Onuchukwu, commended the founders for their confidence in the team and pledged continued efforts to improve the initiative.
The ceremony also featured cultural performances by the Egwu Ogidi Umuoji group, musical entertainment by Ikem Mazeli and students of Martha Amablis School, as well as the presentation of awards to deserving individuals and schools.
