Anambra APGA Acting Woman Leader Pledges Inclusive Leadership, Unity

The Acting Woman Leader of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, in Anambra State, Mrs. Chinwe Umerie, has promised to run an inclusive administration focused on unity, grassroots mobilisation and greater participation of women in politics.

Mrs. Umerie made the pledge during her inaugural meeting with the 21 Local Government APGA Women Leaders in the state, where she also commended her predecessor, Mrs. Esther Onyekesi, for her contributions to the welfare of women and the growth of the party.

The new Acting Woman Leader assured the women leaders that her administration would be guided by integrity, transparency and accountability. She urged them to strengthen ward structures, reconnect with women at the grassroots, register new members, identify polling unit coordinators and support the party’s candidates.

Mrs. Umerie also explained that APGA’s decision to support the re-election of President Bola Tinubu was based on the broader cooperation among progressive forces in the interest of national development. She urged the women leaders to properly educate women across the state on the party’s political direction while remaining committed to APGA’s growth and electoral success.

She further directed the 21 Local Government Women Leaders to hold strategic monthly meetings, submit activity reports, visit wards regularly with documented evidence, recruit more women into the party, resolve conflicts promptly and mentor young women.

Mrs. Umerie assured the women leaders that her office would operate an open and consultative leadership structure where every Local Government Area would receive equal attention, performance would be encouraged and outstanding contributions would be recognised and rewarded.
