Policing No Longer a One Sided Responsibility in Anambra, Says Police Spokesperson

The Public Relations Officer of the Anambra State Police Command, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, says policing in the state has undergone a remarkable transformation, with improved public trust and greater collaboration between security agencies and residents.

Speaking on the Anambra Broadcasting Service, ABS, programme Let’s Talk Politics, which focused on the theme Policing, Democracy and Public Trust, SP Ikenga said security is no longer the exclusive responsibility of the police but a collective duty shared by all stakeholders.

According to him, the growing partnership between the police, community leaders, vigilante groups, residents and other stakeholders has strengthened security operations across Anambra and enhanced public confidence in law enforcement.

He noted that public trust remains a vital foundation for effective democratic policing, emphasizing that timely information sharing and active citizen participation have significantly improved the command’s capacity to prevent crime, respond to security threats and maintain public safety.

The programme also highlighted the strong link between effective policing, democratic governance and public confidence, stressing that sustained cooperation between security agencies and the public remains essential to building a safer and more secure Anambra State.
