Love, Betrayal and an Oath: How a Marriage Crumbled into Violence in Anambra.

What began as a love story filled with hope has ended in heartbreak, bitter accusations and allegations of violence, leaving a family torn apart and two innocent children caught in the middle.

Ifunanya, a native of Nando Community in Anambra East Local Government Area of Anambra State, believed she had found the man she would spend the rest of her life with.
During their courtship, the couple welcomed two children, a boy and a girl, before eventually formalising their relationship through a traditional marriage.
Like many young families, they dreamt of building a better future together. Shortly after the marriage, her husband reportedly returned to Abuja, assuring his wife that he would soon make arrangements for her and the children to join him.

Months turned into years, but the promised reunion never came. Hoping to surprise her husband and finally reunite the family, Ifunanya allegedly travelled to Abuja without prior notice. Instead of the joyful reunion she had imagined, she was confronted with a painful reality.
She reportedly found another woman, heavily pregnant and living with her husband in the apartment they were expected to call home.
The shocking discovery reportedly sparked a heated confrontation before she returned to Nando devastated and heartbroken.

According to community accounts, the crisis deepened when Ifunanya allegedly took the other woman before a traditional shrine, accusing her of having a relationship with her husband.
It was further claimed that after giving birth, the woman travelled from Abuja to Nando and took an oath at the shrine, promising never to return to the man despite having a child with him.
Not to be outdone, the husband also reportedly visited the same shrine and insisted that Ifunanya should swear never to visit him either in Abuja or Nando.
Faced with the circumstances, she allegedly handed over their two children to their father.

The family drama took another tragic turn when Ifunanya reportedly learnt that one of the children had fallen seriously ill. Driven by a mother’s instinct, she allegedly ignored the oath and visited her husband’s residence to check on the child’s condition.
The visit, however, allegedly ended in violence, with the husband accused of assaulting and harassing her, leaving her with injuries of varying degrees.

The incident has stirred conversations within and beyond Nando, raising concerns about broken marriages, infidelity, the welfare of children and the dangers of unresolved family conflicts.

Many residents have called for the intervention of relevant authorities to investigate the alleged assault and ensure justice for all parties involved.

At the time of this report, the allegations had not been independently verified, and the husband had not publicly responded to the claims.

As the matter continues to generate public interest, many hope that the truth will emerge through lawful investigation while the wellbeing of the children remains the foremost priority.
