CWO Zone One, St. Joseph Parish Enekwaspum Brings Hope to Motherless Babies Home with Relief Donations

Members of the Catholic Women Organisation (CWO) Zone One, St. Joseph Parish, Enekwaspum, have extended a hand of compassion to children at the with the donation of relief materials and cash support to improve their welfare.
During the visit to the home in GRA, Onitsha, the delegation presented detergents, two cartons of biscuits, one carton of instant noodles, pampers and cash as part of its humanitarian outreach aimed at supporting the care of vulnerable children.
Speaking during the visit, the Chairlady of CWO Zone One, Mrs. Chizoba Uzoma, said the outreach was inspired by the desire to demonstrate love, compassion and solidarity with the children. She noted that beyond the material donations, the group wanted the children to feel valued, cared for and surrounded by the warmth and affection of a mother’s love.
Mrs. Uzoma encouraged the caregivers and children to remain hopeful and continue trusting in God despite life’s challenges. She also offered prayers for God’s continued protection and blessings upon the home and everyone contributing to the wellbeing of the children.
Responding on behalf of the home, the Matron, , expressed appreciation to the visitors for their generosity and kindness. She disclosed that the facility, which she assumed responsibility for in April, currently cares for 51 children.
Mrs. Onuorah identified some of the home’s pressing challenges, including inadequate electricity supply, the high cost of fueling generators, the absence of a refrigerator for food preservation, a shortage of adult clothing and limited financial resources. She noted that although the home enjoys a reliable water supply through a borehole and has security personnel on duty, the existing challenges continue to affect its daily operations. According to her, the children’s school fees are largely sustained through the goodwill of individuals and charitable organisations.
She appealed to the Anambra State Government, corporate organisations and well meaning individuals to partner with the home by providing support that will improve the welfare, education and overall development of the children.
The visit ended with prayers and words of appreciation from the management and children of the home, who thanked the CWO members for their thoughtful gesture and prayed for God’s blessings upon them.
