Governor Soludo Inspects Ongoing Construction of Africa’s Largest Pharmaceutical Hub in Oba

Governor Chukwuma Soludo has inspected the ongoing construction of the Coordinated Wholesale Centre at Oba, a landmark pharmaceutical hub designed to transform drug distribution in Nigeria and across West Africa.

The 50 hectare facility, being developed by the Anambra State Government, will replace the existing Headbridge Ogbogwu Market in Onitsha and become Africa’s largest regulated, technology driven pharmaceutical wholesale centre upon completion.

The Coordinated Wholesale Centre is being established in line with the National Drug Distribution Guidelines to create a modern, safe and efficient system for the wholesale distribution of medicines.

The project is expected to eliminate the circulation of counterfeit and adulterated drugs by bringing pharmaceutical trading under a single regulated environment with effective monitoring and quality control.

Beyond strengthening public health, the pharmaceutical hub is expected to create thousands of jobs, attract local and international investment, boost economic growth, and position Anambra State as the leading pharmaceutical distribution hub in West Africa.

Governor Soludo reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to delivering world class infrastructure that promotes public safety, supports business growth and advances sustainable development across the state.
