Troops Rescue Six Kidnap Victims, Recover ₦800,000 From Terrorists In Katsina
Six kidnapped victims have been rescued unharmed by troops of Joint Task Force North West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, after soldiers confronted terrorists who intercepted their vehicle along the Dandume–Sheme Road in Katsina State.
The incident occurred on August 22, 2026, when troops of Sector 2, responding to a distress call, swiftly moved to the area and engaged the terrorists.
Unable to withstand the troops’ firepower, the terrorists abandoned their captives and fled into the surrounding bushes.
A subsequent search of the area led to the recovery of ₦800,000 reportedly taken from the victims by the terrorists. The rescued victims, their vehicle and the recovered money were later handed over to them in the presence of the Divisional Police Officer, Dandume.
In a separate operation on August 21, troops also engaged terrorists along the Maraban Kankara axis in Kankara Local Government Area. The terrorists reportedly fled into the bushes following the encounter, while troops recovered a motorcycle during the subsequent search.
Operation FANSAN YAMMA says it will continue aggressive patrols and offensive operations across the North West to deny terrorists freedom of action and protect communities.
The military also appealed to residents to remain vigilant and provide credible, timely information to security forces to support ongoing operations.
