Kidnappers Demand ₦20m Each For Abducted Corps Members In Kogi

Kidnappers who abducted members of the National Youth Service Corps, NYSC, along the Aloma Egane Expressway in Ofu Local Government Area of Kogi State have reportedly demanded ₦20 million ransom for each victim.

The corps members were among 15 NYSC participants travelling from Bayelsa State to Abuja after completing their three week orientation exercise when they were reportedly attacked and abducted.

A family member of one of the victims told Daily Trust that the abductors had contacted the family and demanded ₦20 million for the release of the victim.

The Kogi State Police Command had confirmed the abduction of passengers, including NYSC members, along the route, adding that 11 victims, including drivers of the two vehicles involved, were rescued during a joint security operation.

However, some of the corps members are still believed to be in captivity, as families continue to appeal to the Federal Government, NYSC and security agencies to intensify efforts to secure their safe release.
