The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command says it has arrested 11 suspects linked to armed robbery and “one chance” operations across Abuja, recovering 38 mobile phones and other suspected criminal exhibits.

FCT Commissioner of Police, Ahmed Muhammed Sanusi, disclosed this during a press briefing on Tuesday, October 20, 2026, while highlighting the command’s recent operations against crime in the nation’s capital.

In one operation, police arrested Jamilu Abdulsalam and Ibrahim Isa Sani along the AYA–Nyanya Expressway on September 17. Items recovered from the suspects included three locally made pistols, three live cartridges, four knives, 17 mobile phones, two cutlasses and a Point of Sale (POS) machine.

The police said the duo were allegedly linked to a robbery syndicate operating across Abuja and neighbouring states.

In a separate case, operatives arrested Chibuike Odeh at his residence in Daki-Biyu, Jabi, following a reported robbery involving a woman who was allegedly threatened with a knife and dispossessed of her handbag, mobile phone and other valuables.

According to the police, the suspect also allegedly used the victim’s phone and ATM card to withdraw money from her bank accounts. A knife, face mask and other items were reportedly recovered during the operation.

The command also arrested eight suspects over an alleged “one chance” robbery involving a woman who boarded a taxi at AYA Roundabout on August 7. Investigations reportedly led to the recovery of 21 mobile phones and three laptops, including the victim’s device.

The police said the suspects remain in custody and would be charged to court after investigations are concluded.

The arrests form part of the command’s efforts to tackle robbery and “one chance” crimes, which expose residents and commuters to threats, theft and financial losses.
