Beyond its colourful display of tradition, music and dance, the Ofala Festival in Onitsha has emerged as a platform for corporate brands to showcase products, engage consumers and strengthen business relationships with the community.

This was evident during the celebration of the 24th Ofala Festival of the Obi of Onitsha, Igwe Nnaemeka Achebe, which also marked his 25th year on the throne of his ancestors.

The festival attracted a large turnout of participants and provided corporate sponsors, business partners and emerging businesses with opportunities to increase brand visibility, attract new customers and reward loyal consumers.

From interactive games and product giveaways to cooking contests and energetic dance performances, participating brands blended marketing with entertainment, adding another dimension to the cultural celebration.

Indomie Instant Noodles engaged festival goers through interactive games and free product giveaways, creating opportunities for direct consumer engagement and brand promotion.

Knorr seasoning added excitement with cooking and dancing competitions, distributing recharge cards, hand fans and other gift items to participants. Seaman Schnapps also entertained the crowd with lively dance performances, contributing to the festive atmosphere.

For emerging businesses, the event offered an opportunity to reach new audiences. Mrs Onyeka Oramali, a dealer in Axcel Blender, expressed appreciation to the Obi of Onitsha for providing a platform to showcase her products, describing the opportunity as a boost to her business.

In their goodwill messages, the Area Marketing Manager of Indomie Instant Noodles, Mr Emmanuel Nwaobodo; Area Supervisor of Guinness Nigeria, Mrs Cynthia Joseph; and Knorr Brand Sales Manager, Mr Kingsley Osegbo, commended the Obi for sustaining the cultural heritage of the Onitsha Kingdom.

The brand representatives described the Ofala Festival as an important avenue for strengthening ties with the community. They also thanked customers for their continued patronage and reaffirmed their commitment to delivering quality products and maintaining strong consumer relationships.

The celebration highlighted the growing intersection between cultural heritage and commerce, demonstrating how traditional festivals can create opportunities for business promotion, support emerging entrepreneurs and deepen engagement between brands and the communities they serve.
