The Anambra State Town Union Council, ASTUC Youth Wing says the body will meet and release its position paper on the plans by the Anambra State Government to enforce the 18-35 years youth bracket policy for leadership of youth organizations and for benefitting from government initiatives for youths.

The Anambra State Government had said it will implement the policy beginning January 1, 2027

In a press release signed by the Special Adviser to the Governor Chukwuma Soludo on Youth Reformation, Dr Nelson Omenugha and dated 15th October, 2026, the Anambra State Government said “the policy seeks to ensure that youth-focused opportunities reach their intended beneficiaries, promote fairness, strengthen participation, and create space for emerging leaders to develop their leadership capacity.”

It then directed all youth organisations, associations, and relevant institutions to review and regularise their membership, leadership structures, and operational guidelines to ensure full compliance by the deadline.

Responding to the statement in an interview with pressmen in Ojoto, Idemili South Local Government Area, the National President of the body, Comrade Ken Oli said ASTUC Youth Wing will make a resolution on the matter after their executive meeting on Saturday October 17th, 2026 at ASTUC building, Old Government House in Awka.

He, however, said that the body had commenced engagements with relevant stakeholders on the implementation of the policy starting with the Speaker of Anambra State House of Assembly, Somtochukwu Udeze, after the house passed a resolution urging Governor Soludo to implement the policy.

Comrade Okoli encouraged wider stakeholder dialogue in the implementation of the policy and a review of the National Youth Policy to reflect current youth realities and as it affects community governance structures in Anambra State.
