Hon. Ifeanyichukwu Ibezi has joined the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) and declared his support for Mr Peter Obi’s presidential ambition.
Ibezi, a former lawmaker, made the declaration on Saturday reaffirming his commitment to what he described as the vision of building a new Nigeria.
His decision to join the NDC marks a new political alignment as he identifies with the movement’s stated ideals of good governance, accountability and national transformation.
Ibezi’s declaration of support for Obi’s presidential aspiration further signals his backing for the political movement associated with the former Anambra State governor.
He said his alignment with the party and Obi’s ambition reflected his commitment to the pursuit of a new Nigeria.
Mr Ibezi left the All Progressives Congress, APC, in 2025 for the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, where he declared support for the re-election of Governor Chukwuma Soludo after the APC gubernatorial primaries produced Evang Nicholas Ukachukwu against his candidate, Mr Paul Chukwuma.
However, his relationship went sour with APGA after he was denied a ticket to return to the House of Representatives representing Idemili North and South Federal Constituency.
He was welcomed during the defection by the Senator representing An Central Senatorial District and NDC candidate for the zone in the 2027 general elections, Victor Umeh
