Troops foil terrorists’ bomb plot on Zamfara road

Troops of Sector 2, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have foiled a potential terrorist attack on commuters along the Magami-Hannutara-Dansadau road in Maru Local Government Area of Zamfara State after discovering and neutralising explosive devices planted along the route.

The operation followed credible intelligence about the presence of improvised explosive devices (IEDs) intended to cause harm to road users.

According to the military, troops secured the affected area and conducted a thorough search, leading to the discovery of two locations where the explosives had been planted.

An Explosive Ordnance Disposal team was subsequently deployed to handle the threat, destroying one device and safely recovering and rendering another harmless.

The military said troops had intensified patrols and surveillance along the route to protect residents and commuters and prevent further threats.

Members of the public have been urged to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious objects or activities to the nearest security agency.

The operation underscores the continuing security efforts to protect road users and prevent terrorists from using explosive devices to target civilian movement in Zamfara State.
