ABUJA: The Chief Press Secretary to Anambra State Governor, Professor Chukwuma Charles Soludo, Mr. Christian Aburime, has received the National Excellence Award in Strategic Communication and Public Service at the 10th National Leadership Integrity and Development Summit and Awards 2026.

The award was presented during the high profile event held at Nicon Luxury Hotel, Abuja, and organised by the Centre for Ethical Conduct Orientation and Empowerment, CECOE, in partnership with the Financial Reporting Council of Nigeria.

The summit, which marked Nigeria’s 66th anniversary, was held under the theme, “Making Nigeria Work Through Trusted Leadership, Working Institutions, Economic Growth, Sustainable Development and National Security.”

Aburime was represented at the ceremony by the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Media Productions, Mr. Ejike Abana.

In his acceptance message, Aburime dedicated the award to Governor Soludo, the Anambra State Government and the people of the state for the opportunity to serve in his current capacity.

He pledged to continue contributing to public service and strategic communication in ways that would benefit the state and the wider society.

The event featured panel discussions and keynote addresses by prominent speakers on leadership, institutional development, economic growth, accountability and national security.

In his opening remarks, the Executive Director of CECOE, Dr. Owah David, challenged participants to examine what is required to make Nigeria work, stressing that national progress depends on deliberate action rather than mere aspirations.

The Chairman of the occasion, Dr. Rabiu Olowo, emphasised the importance of strong institutions and capable leadership in achieving sustainable national development.

He also called for transparency and accountability to become part of everyday governance and public life rather than practices observed only during special events.

The Co Chairman of the event and Chairman of the House Committee on Customs, Rt. Hon. Leke Abejide, spoke on the theme, “Making Nigeria Work: Leadership, Institutions and Citizens; Our Collective Responsibility.”

Abejide said national development requires institutional reforms as well as a change in citizens’ attitudes and participation.

He also commended reforms by the President Bola Tinubu led administration, including the removal of fuel subsidy and the reallocation of funds towards productive sectors.

According to him, the country is gradually moving towards increased manufacturing activity and greater foreign direct investment.
