Two To Depart For Overseas Studies As IDK-NCUK Holds 2025/2026 Maiden Graduation Ceremony In Awka

Following the successful completion of the NCUK International Foundation Year (IFY) programme in Awka, two students, Ugochukwu Nwokolo from Onitsha and Chidera Ayogu from Nrobo in Uzo-Uwani Local Government Area of Enugu State, are set to depart for oversea studies in Australia and the United Kingdom respectively.
The International Foundation Year is a 9-to-12-month bridging programme undertaken after WAEC or NECO to qualify for direct entry into Year One abroad, especially in Australia and the UK, and is needed because the Nigerian education system runs for 12 years while Australia and the UK require 13 years.
Speaking at the IDK-NCUK 2025/2026 maiden graduation ceremony for IFY students held at the IDK office in Awka, the CEO and Executive Director of IDK University Pathways International Study Centre, Awka, Mrs Chinwe Nweke, recalled that the IFY programme, which started with the two students, was unveiled at the centre about a year ago, describing the graduation ceremony as a fulfilment of the promise that world-class higher education pathways could begin right in Awka, South East.
While encouraging parents to explore structured international education pathways that can prepare their children for undergraduate study and future academic opportunities abroad, Mrs Nweke also used the opportunity to inform prospective students, parents and guardians that admission for the September/October 2026 intake is currently ongoing, urging interested applicants to obtain the application form free through the school’s website, www.idklearningcentre.com/ncuk.
While commending Mrs Nweke and her team at IDK for their perseverance in bringing opportunities to people in Anambra and the South-East in general, the immediate past Secretary to Anambra State Government and now Chief Policy Adviser to the Managing Director of South East Development Commission (SEDC), Professor Solo Chukwulobelu, also thanked parents for their efforts in giving their children quality education as guidance for life.
Prof Chukwulobelu reminded the graduands that they are going to countries where the value for education is among the best anywhere in the world, urging them to make the best use of the opportunity.
Also urging the graduands to make their families and states proud in their overseas studies, the Permanent Secretary, Anambra State Ministry of Education, Dr (Mrs) Ifeoma Agbaizu, represented by the Head of Higher Education, Mr Nweke Ubaka, noted that the state government has continued to provide citizens and residents of the state with opportunities to thrive in the education sector.
The graduands, Nwokolo and Ayogu, who commended IDK-NCUK for the oversea study opportunity, promised to make the best use of it.
