Troops Rescue Three Kidnapped Victims In Katsina State
Troops of Sector 2, Joint Task Force North West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA (JTF NW OPFY), have rescued three kidnapped victims following a distress call from local residents about terrorist activities along the Dandume–Sheme Road in Dandume Local Government Area of Katsina State.
According to the Media Information Officer, Joint Task Force (North West), Lieutenant Colonel Aliyu Danja, the operation was carried out on September 3, 2026, after troops, in collaboration with personnel of the Nigeria Police, swiftly mobilised to the scene upon receiving the distress call.
On arrival, the troops made contact with the terrorists and overwhelmed them with superior firepower, forcing them to flee in disarray into the surrounding bush and abandon their victims.
A search of the area led to the rescue of the three kidnapped victims, along with the recovery of two vehicles used by the terrorists. The rescued victims and recovered vehicles were subsequently handed over to the Divisional Police Officer, Dandume, while troops continue to dominate the area with aggressive patrols to deny the terrorists freedom of action.
The military said the successful rescue demonstrates the resolve of Operation FANSAN YAMMA troops to safeguard the lives and property of law-abiding citizens across the Joint Operations Area.
Operation FANSAN YAMMA has commended the public for its continued support and urged residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities in their localities to the nearest security outpost for prompt action.
