Two Women Posing as Tenants Arrested Over Alleged Attempt to Traffic Three Children in Taraba

Two women have been arrested by the Taraba State Police Command for allegedly abducting three girls aged between five and six and attempting to traffic them to Adamawa State.

The suspects reportedly rented a room in the same compound where the children lived in Jalingo and allegedly deceived their mothers into allowing the girls to accompany them to the market.

Instead, the women allegedly took the children to a motor park and boarded a commercial vehicle heading towards Adamawa.

The vehicle driver reportedly became suspicious after noticing that the girls did not appear to be related to the women. He alerted members of his union, who contacted the police, leading to the suspects’ arrest at a filling station.

The children, identified as Ummul Shuaibu, Ummul Baba Gasal and Amina Abubakar, were taken to the police headquarters, where their parents were invited for identification. Investigation into the alleged attempted trafficking is ongoing.
