NFF Appoints Ayo Abdulrahaman As New NPFL Chief Operating Officer

The Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, has appointed Dr Ayo Abdulrahaman as the new Chief Operating Officer of the Nigeria Premier Football League, NPFL, with immediate effect.

The appointment was announced on Friday, August 28, 2026, as the 2026/27 NPFL season got underway and forms part of the federation’s ongoing restructuring of the administration of Nigeria’s domestic leagues.

NFF Interim General Secretary, Dr Emmanuel Ikpeme, confirmed the appointment, saying Abdulrahaman would immediately assume responsibility for the operational administration of the NPFL.

Abdulrahaman holds a doctorate degree in sports administration and has experience in football organisation, administration and league management across different levels of Nigerian football.

His appointment comes as the new NPFL season begins, with Shooting Stars opening their campaign with a 2 1 victory over newly promoted Inter Lagos in Ibadan, while the remaining Matchday One fixtures are scheduled for Sunday, August 30.
