Anambra Teacher Emerges Africa’s Best ICT Driven Educator, Puts State on Continental Spotlight

Anambra has once again announced its presence on the continental education stage, as a teacher from the state has emerged Africa’s Overall Best ICT Driven Educator for 2026.

Mr. Ifetike Chekwube Hope, a technical teacher at Government Technical College, Onitsha, clinched the prestigious honour at the African Teachers Excellence Award Gala Night, held at the UBEC Digital Centre in Abuja on Friday, August 21, 2026.

The recognition is more than a personal triumph for Ifetike. It is a powerful statement about the growing role of technology, innovation and technical education in shaping the future of learning in Anambra and across Nigeria.

An elated Ifetike attributed the achievement to God, describing the award as a major milestone in his teaching career.

> “I have the honour to appreciate the Almighty God for making it possible for me to be the first-ever winner of the prestigious Overall Best Most Outstanding ICT-Driven Educator in Africa.”

The latest recognition is another addition to an already remarkable year for the teacher. In January 2026, he was named Overall Best Performing Teacher in the South-East at the National Teachers Summit.

From the classroom in Onitsha to the continental stage, Ifetike’s journey is a reminder that the modern teacher is no longer defined only by the chalkboard.
