Eight Teams Battle For Glory In Solution Pre-Season Tournament

Football excitement has returned to Awka as the Solution Pre Season Tournament officially kicked off at the Awka Township Stadium, providing a fresh platform for grassroots talents to showcase their abilities and chase their professional football dreams.

The tournament, organised by the Anambra State Football Association, ANSFA, in partnership with the Anambra State Ministry of Youth Development and Sports, was officially kicked off on Monday by the Commissioner for Sports, Mr. Patrick Agha Mba.

Eight teams are competing in the tournament, including Solution FC, Edel FC, Olive Charles FC, Peace FC, Alleluia FC, Bona FC, Ozalla FC and UC Diamond FC.

Speaking after the kickoff, Commissioner Agha Mba described the competition as part of the state government’s commitment to talent discovery, grassroots sports development and the creation of a sustainable sports economy.

He noted that the tournament would provide Anambra’s two NNL sides with valuable preparation ahead of the new league season, while giving emerging footballers the opportunity to attract attention, compete for professional opportunities and take their careers to the next level.

> “See this tournament as an opportunity to showcase your talents and take your career to the next level,” Mba told the players.

The Commissioner also urged the players to approach the competition professionally, play responsibly and avoid unnecessary injuries, while calling on match officials to uphold fairness, integrity and professionalism throughout the tournament.

He commended Governor Chukwuma Soludo for his support for sports development in the state, particularly the vision to build a strong sports ecosystem and sports economy capable of producing globally competitive sports entrepreneurs.

Mba also highlighted the ongoing reconstruction of the Ekwulobia City Stadium, describing it as another major investment in the state’s sporting infrastructure.

For ANSFA Chairman, Chikelue Iloenyosi, the tournament is another step towards restoring Anambra’s reputation as a powerhouse of Nigerian sports.

He said the association is determined to return the state to its sporting glory, promising three days of competitive and entertaining grassroots football.

With young talents eager to impress, established sides preparing for the new season and scouts watching for the next big name, the Solution Pre Season Tournament promises to be more than just preparation.

For some of these players, the next three days could be the beginning of a much bigger football story.
