Police, Civil Defence Strengthen Partnership On Security

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, and the Nigeria Police Force have reaffirmed their commitment to deeper operational collaboration and intelligence sharing to tackle crime and emerging security threats in Anambra State.

The commitment was made on Friday, August 21, 2026, when the newly posted Commissioner of Police, Anambra State Command, CP Nnanna Oji Ama, paid a courtesy visit to the State Commandant of the NSCDC, Commandant Maku Olatunde, at the Corps headquarters in Awka.

Commandant Maku described the visit as an important step towards strengthening the existing relationship between both security agencies, stressing that effective communication, intelligence sharing and coordinated operations were critical to maintaining peace and security.

He said sustained inter-agency cooperation would enhance efforts against vandalism, terrorism, illegal mining, petroleum product adulteration, insurgency, banditry and other forms of criminality.

> “Nobody is an island. Where one’s knowledge and experience stops, that of the other person starts. That is why we need to come together to become stronger and better,” Maku said.

The NSCDC Commandant assured the Police Commissioner of the Corps’ continued support and cooperation in securing the lives and property of residents across the state.

Earlier, CP Nnanna Oji Ama said the visit was aimed at formally introducing himself and strengthening coordination between the two agencies while eliminating possible friction among their operational teams.

The Police Commissioner stressed that synergy remains critical to effective crime fighting, and solicited the continued support of the NSCDC in the collective effort to make Anambra safer.

> “The strength of law enforcement lies in synergy and strategic collaboration at different levels to effectively deal with crime,” he stated.

The visit featured the signing of the visitor’s book, exchange of souvenirs and a group photograph.
