NYSC DG Warns Corps Members Against Misconduct, Unauthorised Travel
The Director General of the National Youth Service Corps, Brigadier General Olakunle Nafiu, has warned corps members against misconduct, urging them to obey the NYSC by laws and the Constitution throughout their service year.
Nafiu gave the warning while addressing 2026 Batch B Stream Two corps members deployed to Kano and the Federal Capital Territory at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp in Karaye.
He said corps members whose conduct damages the image of the NYSC or Nigeria would face sanctions under the relevant provisions of the Scheme’s by laws.
The NYSC boss urged the corps members to become positive ambassadors of the Scheme, their families and their institutions, while using the knowledge gained from their education to contribute to national development.
He also encouraged them to acquire relevant skills during their service year and use social media responsibly by promoting positive content and the culture of their host communities.
Nafiu further warned that corps members must obtain approval from their State Coordinator before travelling outside their state of service, while anyone intending to travel outside Nigeria must secure approval from the NYSC Director General.
Meanwhile, NYSC Kano State Coordinator, Hajiya Halima Abdulkarim Abubakar, disclosed that 2,428 corps members, comprising 1,024 males and 1,404 females, had been registered for the orientation exercise in the state.
