Akpuovu Road: Amanuke Communities Plead for Soludo’s Urgent Intervention

The people of Amanuke and neighbouring communities in Awka North LGA are appealing to Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo for urgent intervention on the deplorable Akpuovu Road, a major link connecting Amanuke with Urum, Mgbakwu, Ebenebe and Isuaniocha.

The badly eroded road has become almost impassable, particularly during the rainy season, leaving motorists stranded, increasing transport costs and making the movement of farm produce to markets extremely difficult. Farmers reportedly lose valuable produce to delays and poor access, while residents face serious challenges transporting patients to hospitals during emergencies.

The crisis is also affecting education and security, as pupils and teachers struggle to access schools and security agencies face difficulties responding promptly to emergencies in the area.

Residents are therefore urging Governor Soludo to direct an immediate assessment of Akpuovu Road and include its rehabilitation in the state’s intervention plans, stressing that fixing the road would open up several communities, reduce transportation costs, improve agricultural productivity, strengthen security and stimulate local economic activity.

For the people of Awka North, this is more than a road project. It is a call to restore access, livelihoods, safety and hope to communities that have waited too long for government intervention.
