Police Arrest Fifth Suspect Over Mob Killing of Jos Model, Ibrahim Mbaya
The Plateau State Police Command has arrested a fifth suspect in connection with the alleged mob killing of 25 year old model and University of Jos graduate, Ibrahim Mbaya, popularly known as Ibee.
Police identified the latest suspect as Yusuf Christopher Beskeni, 24, a presidential aspirant of the University of Jos Faculty of Arts Students Association (FASA). He was arrested following intelligence gathered during ongoing investigations into the incident.
According to the Command’s spokesperson, SP Alfred Alabo, preliminary findings indicate that Beskeni allegedly participated in the assault by helping to tie Mbaya to a pole while he was being beaten by the mob.
Mbaya was reportedly accused of stealing an iPhone before he was attacked. The severe beating allegedly resulted in his death.
The police said four other suspects had earlier been arrested in connection with the case, while efforts are ongoing to apprehend other fleeing suspects.
Acting Commissioner of Police, DCP Usman Sheikh Adamu, assured the family of the deceased and the people of Plateau State that everyone found culpable would be brought to justice, stressing that investigations are continuing.
