Soludo Hosts Historic Send-Off for Outgoing Anambra Police Commissioner, Orutugu

Anambra State Governor, Professor Chukwuma Soludo, has led members of the State Executive Council in honouring the outgoing Commissioner of Police, AIG Ikioye Orutugu, at a special send-off ceremony held during the Executive Council meeting at the Light House, Awka.

The ceremony, described as the first of its kind in the state’s history, brought together top government officials, security chiefs and members of the Executive Council to celebrate Orutugu contributions to security in Anambra State.

Governor Soludo commended the police commissioner for his professionalism, dedication and leadership, noting that his collaboration with other security agencies strengthened the state’s security architecture and enhanced the protection of lives and property.

Responding, AIG Orutugu thanked the governor, the State Executive Council and the people of Anambra for their support throughout his tenure. He attributed the successes recorded by the command to the collective efforts of security agencies and the unwavering support of the state government.

The Secretary to the State Government, Mrs. Chiamaka Nnake, Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Barrister Tochukwu Nweke, the State Director of the Department of State Services, Mr. Chuks Anukposi, and the Traditional Ruler of Uke, Igwe Charles Agbala, also paid glowing tributes to the retired police chief, describing him as a disciplined and committed officer.

The ceremony climaxed with the presentation of a commemorative award to AIG Orutugu in recognition of his meritorious service to Anambra State and the nation.
