The Bauchi State Police Command has arrested five suspects in separate operations over alleged burglary and possession of suspected cannabis, recovering stolen household items and other valuables.
Police spokesperson, SP Nafiu Habib, said operatives of the Violent Crime Response Unit intercepted three suspects during a routine patrol in Doya Quarters after stopping a tricycle carrying suspicious items. Recovered exhibits included a 32 inch television, a gas cylinder, a tabletop gas cooker, shoes, clothes, jewellery, and other household items suspected to have been stolen from a residence.

According to the police, preliminary investigations indicate that the suspects allegedly broke into a house in Unguwar Sarakuna with the help of another suspect who is currently on the run. The owner of the property later identified the recovered items as belonging to her family, although some valuables were still missing.
In a separate operation at Bayan Gari, police arrested two other suspects allegedly exchanging parcels of dry leaves suspected to be cannabis. The suspected substance was recovered, while investigations are ongoing to identify the supplier.
The police said efforts are underway to arrest the fleeing burglary suspect and other persons connected to the drug case. All five suspects will be charged in court after investigations are concluded.
