NMDPRA Launches App to Monitor Fuel Consumption in Real Time

The Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA) has introduced a mobile application to monitor fuel consumption and compliance in real time across filling stations nationwide.

The pilot phase of the digital platform commenced on August 1 in Abuja and the six Area Councils, with officials of the authority inspecting participating retail outlets to assess the system’s readiness and performance.

According to the NMDPRA, the application captures real time inventory and compliance data, enabling regulators to improve oversight of fuel distribution, enhance operational efficiency, and promote transparency in the downstream petroleum sector.

The authority said the platform will generate reliable data to support evidence based decision making, strengthen national energy security planning, and provide government, investors, operators, and other stakeholders with accurate fuel consumption information.

NMDPRA expressed confidence that the initiative will improve regulatory efficiency and contribute to a more transparent and accountable petroleum distribution system across the country.
