Residents Hail ASWAMA’s Dawn Sanitation Drive, Commend Soludo’s Clean and Green Initiative

Residents of Awka have commended the Anambra State Waste Management Authority (ASWAMA) for its early morning sanitation operations, describing the agency’s daily efforts as a major contributor to the cleanliness of the state capital.
Before daybreak each morning, ASWAMA officials are seen accompanying waste collection trucks to remove refuse dumped along major roads, drainages, and public spaces before commercial activities begin.
The routine sanitation exercise covers key areas including Zik’s Avenue, Aroma Junction, and adjoining streets, where sanitation workers clear waste to maintain a clean and healthy environment.
Many residents described the workers as unsung heroes whose dedication has helped improve environmental sanitation and public health across the city despite the difficult conditions under which they operate.
They noted that the officials carry out their duties professionally, often working in unpleasant environments and exposing themselves to health risks in the course of keeping the city clean.
Residents also said the commitment of ASWAMA personnel reflects the success of Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo’s Clean and Green initiative, which they believe has strengthened environmental awareness and encouraged better waste disposal practices among the people.
They urged Ndi Anambra to complement the government’s efforts by disposing of waste properly, avoiding indiscriminate dumping of refuse, and protecting public infrastructure to sustain the gains already recorded.
The residents further applauded Governor Soludo for prioritising environmental sanitation and described the daily presence of ASWAMA personnel across Awka as evidence of the administration’s commitment to creating a cleaner, healthier, and more livable Anambra State.
