East Ocean Filling Station Opens in Neni, Boosts Investment, Economic Activities

The drive to attract investment and stimulate economic growth in Anaocha Local Government Area received another boost with the commissioning of East Ocean Filling Station at Oye Neni.
The facility was officially inaugurated by the Mayor of Anaocha Local Government Area, Hon. Rome Ibekwe, who described the project as a major contribution to the community’s economic development and a reflection of Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s Aku Luo Uno (Think Home) initiative.
Speaking at the event, Hon. Ibekwe said the establishment of the filling station demonstrates growing investor confidence in Anaocha, which he attributed to improved security and a peaceful environment fostered by the local government.
He noted that the project would create employment opportunities, improve access to petroleum products, and reduce the hardship residents previously faced in sourcing fuel from neighbouring communities.
The Mayor encouraged other sons and daughters of Anaocha to invest in their communities, assuring them of the local government’s commitment to sustaining security and creating an enabling environment for businesses to thrive.
President General of Neni Town Union, Sir Christian Ikebudu, described the filling station as a landmark investment that will stimulate commerce and improve the socio economic development of the community.
Representing the owner of the facility, Mrs. Nkemakonam Nzelum Nmuodiegwu said the investment was inspired by the family’s desire to contribute to the growth of their hometown in response to the state’s Aku Luo Uno campaign.
She explained that although the family operates other businesses elsewhere, they chose to establish the filling station in Neni to bring development closer to the people and create employment opportunities for local youths.
Residents welcomed the project, noting that it would eliminate the need for long journeys to purchase fuel while reducing dependence on black market suppliers.
The commissioning ceremony also featured the distribution of free fuel to some residents, with beneficiaries expressing appreciation to the benefactor for bringing a vital service closer to the community.
