Fire Breaks Out at Lagos Airport Terminal 2, No Casualties Reported

A fire incident on Sunday disrupted activities at Terminal 2 of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, prompting an emergency response by the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN).

FAAN confirmed the incident in a statement, saying its Aerodrome Rescue and Firefighting Service (ARFFS) was immediately deployed to the scene to contain the fire and prevent it from spreading.

According to the Authority, there were no reported casualties or loss of life as firefighters worked to bring the situation under control.

“The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) wishes to inform the public that a fire incident has occurred at Terminal 2 of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos. The FAAN Aerodrome Rescue and Firefighting Service (ARFFS) is currently responding to the incident and working diligently to contain the situation,” the statement read.

FAAN assured passengers and the general public that further updates would be provided as investigations continue and more information becomes available.

The cause of the fire has not yet been disclosed. Airport authorities are expected to assess the extent of the damage and determine its impact on flight operations.
