Anazodo Assures Nnewi North Farmers of Council Support to Boost Livestock Production

The Mayor of Nnewi North Local Government Area, Hon. Echezona Anazodo, has assured livestock farmers in the area of the council’s continued support to increase production and contribute to food security.
Anazodo gave the assurance on July 29, 2026, while attending the 2026 Nigerian Veterinary Medical Association (NVMA) Livestock Workshop held at the Nnewi North Council Secretariat.
The workshop brought together livestock farmers, veterinary professionals and other stakeholders from across the local government area to discuss animal health, disease prevention, modern farming practices and sustainable livestock production.
Addressing participants, the mayor commended the NVMA for organising the workshop and reaffirmed the council’s commitment to working with farmers, veterinary professionals and relevant government agencies to create an enabling environment for increased productivity.
He noted that agriculture remains an important driver of economic growth and job creation in Nnewi North, assuring farmers that the council would continue to prioritise interventions that directly benefit them at the grassroots.
Also speaking at the workshop, the Permanent Secretary in the Anambra State Ministry of Agriculture, Hon. Chinwe Achigbue, and a lecturer at the Federal Polytechnic, Oko, Dr. Okechukwu Ezeobere, educated participants on modern farming techniques, animal disease prevention and control, as well as value chain development.
The experts also emphasised the importance of proper animal health management and improved production practices in strengthening the livestock sector.
The workshop was described by participants as an important sensitisation programme aimed at equipping livestock farmers with practical knowledge to improve productivity, prevent diseases and increase their contribution to food security in Nnewi North.
