Kano Bans After Party Celebrations, ‘Hot Challenge’ At Wedding Events

The Kano State Government has banned after party celebrations and the popular “hot challenge” activities commonly held during wedding ceremonies across the state.

The government said the decision was aimed at protecting Kano’s cultural and religious values and ensuring that wedding ceremonies are conducted in a decent and respectful manner.

According to the authorities, some of the activities associated with after party celebrations and hot challenges have increasingly involved conduct considered inconsistent with the traditions, moral values and standards of the state.

The government said the ban was intended to promote discipline, responsible celebrations and preserve the dignity of marriage ceremonies.

Residents, event organisers, disc jockeys and wedding planners have been urged to comply with the directive, while the government warned that violators could face appropriate sanctions.

The announcement has, however, generated mixed reactions among residents. While some welcomed the decision, arguing that it would restore order and decency at wedding events, others said individuals should be allowed to celebrate freely provided their activities do not violate existing laws.

The Kano State Government maintained that the directive was introduced to promote responsible celebrations and preserve the cultural and religious values of the state.
