Nzam Youths Commend Anambra West Mayor, Ndive, Seek More Investment in Education, Healthcare, Security
The youths of Nzam have commended the Mayor of Anambra West Local Government Area, Mrs. Edith Ndive,for her commitment to the development of the council area.
The commendation was made when the President of Nzam Youth Association, Comrade Christian Ogugua, led members of the association on a courtesy visit to the Mayor at the Local Government Headquarters in Nzam.
The visit was part of the association’s efforts to strengthen collaboration with the local government administration and promote initiatives aimed at improving the welfare and development of the community.
Speaking during the visit, Comrade Ogugua praised the Mayor for what he described as her inclusive approach to governance and her efforts in advancing both human and infrastructural development across Anambra West.
He, however, noted that more interventions were still needed to bring the council area at par with other developed parts of the state. The youth leader consequently presented a number of requests to the Mayor, including the construction of a security post, market development, improvement of healthcare facilities, employment opportunities, school development and youth empowerment initiatives.
Responding, Hon. Ndive expressed appreciation to the youths for the visit, describing it as a demonstration of unity, partnership and shared commitment to the growth of Anambra West.
She assured them that their requests would receive due consideration, while reaffirming her administration’s commitment to improving the welfare of residents across the council area.
The Mayor disclosed that her administration was currently sponsoring the training of about 50 youths from Anambra West in various vocational and entrepreneurial skills. She added that the beneficiaries would receive start-up grants upon completion of the training to enable them establish businesses and become self-reliant.
Hon. Ndive urged the youths to remain law-abiding and shun social vices capable of jeopardising their future. She encouraged them to embrace peace, hard work and constructive engagement as important tools for personal and community development.
The Mayor also commended the administration of Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo for its support to Anambra West, saying that the people of the council area remain grateful for the attention given to their development needs.
She further praised the wife of the Governor, Dr. Nonye Soludo, for her contributions to the welfare of women and the girl child through the Healthy Living with Nonye Soludo Initiative, particularly in the areas of health promotion and disease prevention.
The meeting ended on a cordial note, with both the Nzam youths and the Anambra West Local Government administration reaffirming their commitment to continued partnership for the growth, peace and prosperity of the community.
