Anambra Government Inaugurates 2027 Budget Committee

The Anambra State Government has inaugurated the committee saddled with the responsibility of coordinating the preparation of the 2027 State Budget.

The Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning, Hon. Chukwukadibia Okoye, inaugurated the committee on Wednesday at the Inter Agency Board Room of the Ministry of Budget and Economic Planning, Anambra State Secretariat, Awka.

The event was attended by key officials of the Ministry, representatives of various sectors and other stakeholders involved in the state’s budget preparation process.

While inaugurating the committee, Commissioner Okoye charged members to approach their responsibilities with utmost focus, commitment and a strong sense of ownership, stressing that the quality of their work would be critical to the successful implementation of the Solution Agenda of Governor Prof. Chukwuma Charles Soludo.

He said the 2027 budget process must be guided by transparency, discipline and integrity, given the central role of the budget in translating government policies and programmes into tangible development outcomes.

The Commissioner urged members to prioritise evidence based project selection that reflects the genuine needs and aspirations of the people, stressing that projects must be selected on merit and based on their developmental impact.

He further emphasised the importance of early budget preparation, effective synergy among Ministries, Departments and Agencies, accurate costing and realistic projections as essential components of a credible budget process.

Speaking on some of the critical challenges facing the state, including the menace of erosion, Hon. Okoye called for proper planning and the prioritisation of projects capable of addressing the most pressing needs of Ndi Anambra.

He expressed confidence that with commitment, teamwork and effective collaboration, the committee would produce a people focused 2027 budget capable of driving sustainable development across Anambra State.
