FRSC Arrests 121 Motorists for 214 Traffic Offences in Anambra
The Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC, Anambra Sector Command, has arrested 121 motorists for allegedly committing 214 traffic offences during its ongoing Operation Total Compliance enforcement exercise across the state.
The Sector Commander, Bridget Asekhauno, disclosed this during the enforcement exercise in Awka on Wednesday, July 22, 2026. She was represented by the Officer in Charge of Motor Vehicle Administration, DCC Gloria Ezeugwu.
According to the command, the three day nationwide operation is being conducted simultaneously across the FRSC’s 12 zones to educate motorists, enforce traffic regulations and curb violations that contribute to road crashes.
The offences recorded include overloading, failure to install or use speed limiting devices, driving without valid licences, attempted bribery of FRSC personnel, dangerous driving and driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
The command arrested 27 motorists for overloading, 34 for violations involving speed limiting devices and 10 for driving without valid driver’s licences. Four motorists were also arrested for allegedly attempting to bribe FRSC officials, while two each were apprehended for dangerous driving and driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
Asekhauno warned motorists against unsafe practices, particularly carrying passengers alongside animals or goods, stressing that goods should not be transported together with human beings.
She also cautioned drivers against tampering with or deactivating speed limiting devices after installation to enable them to exceed prescribed speed limits.
The FRSC urged motorists to obey traffic regulations and use the ongoing enforcement exercise to cultivate safer driving habits ahead of the ember months.
