Family Appeals for N45.1 Million to Save Mother Needing Urgent Kidney Transplant

The family of 55 year old Mrs. Opeoluwa Dorcas has appealed to well meaning Nigerians for financial assistance to enable her undergo a life saving kidney transplant estimated to cost N45.1 million.

According to a medical report, Mrs. Dorcas was diagnosed with end stage renal disease resulting from chronic glomerulonephritis and requires an urgent kidney transplant after her condition failed to improve despite regular dialysis.

Her son, Joshua, said the family has exhausted its savings on treatment, having spent heavily on more than 50 dialysis sessions, medications, blood transfusions, kidney function tests, echocardiograms, and other medical procedures.

A medical estimate from PurpleMed Specialist Medical and Kidney Centre in Oyo State put the total cost of the transplant at N45,113,609.09. The amount covers the transplant procedure, one year of post transplant immunosuppressant medications, and six months of laboratory investigations.

The family is appealing to government agencies, corporate organisations, religious bodies, philanthropists, and members of the public to support Mrs. Dorcas, expressing hope that timely intervention will give her a second chance at life.
