Senator Umeh Boosts Education in Okpuno with New Classrooms, Scholarships
Education development in Okpuno Community, Awka South Local Government Area of Anambra State, has received a boost as the construction of a six classroom block at Udodimma Primary School, Nodu Okpuno, progresses.
The project, facilitated by the Senator representing Anambra Central Senatorial District, Senator Victor Umeh, is designed to improve the learning environment by addressing the shortage of classroom space and providing pupils with better educational facilities. The project also includes the provision of classroom desks.
When completed, the new classroom block is expected to ease congestion, enhance teaching and learning, and improve access to quality education for pupils in the community.
In addition to the infrastructure project, Senator Umeh has continued to support education through scholarship programmes. On September 5, 2024, he awarded scholarships to two undergraduates from Okpuno Community to assist them with their university education.
The beneficiaries are Kachi Afamefunachukwa, a Sociology student at Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, and Okafor Mmesoma Maryjane, a student of Education Management and Policy at the same institution.
The classroom project and scholarship awards underscore Senator Umeh’s efforts to promote access to quality education and support academic excellence among young people in Anambra Central Senatorial District.
Residents and community leaders have welcomed the initiatives, describing them as timely interventions that will improve educational standards in Okpuno and contribute to the community’s long term development.
The projects are part of the senator’s constituency development programmes aimed at strengthening educational infrastructure and expanding opportunities for students across Anambra Central.
