Nigeria Customs Officers Join NIPR Professional Fold After Intensive Training

It was a moment of pride, celebration and professional accomplishment at the Headquarters of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) in Maitama, Abuja, as the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) formally inducted 70 officers of the Nigeria Customs Service as Associate Members of the Institute.

The colourful ceremony marked the successful completion of a one week intensive capacity building programme that equipped the officers with advanced knowledge in strategic communication, reputation management and modern public relations practice. The participants were drawn from various Customs commands and formations across the country.

 

Addressing the newly inducted members, the President and Chairman of Council of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations, Dr. Ike Neliaku, fnipr, congratulated them on attaining professional status. He urged them to uphold the ethics of the profession and continue to project the Nigeria Customs Service positively through effective communication and responsible public engagement.

Also speaking at the ceremony, the Comptroller General of the Nigeria Customs Service, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, MFR, fnipr, encouraged the officers to make the most of their new professional qualifications. He challenged them to become the next generation of communication leaders within the Service, leveraging their skills to strengthen public confidence, enhance the image of Customs and support the organisation’s reform agenda.

The induction highlights the growing commitment of the Nigeria Customs Service to professionalism, capacity development and effective public communication. By investing in strategic communication, the Service continues to position itself as a modern institution that values transparency, stakeholder engagement and public trust.

The event ended with warm congratulations to the 70 newly inducted Associate Members, whose achievement marks another milestone in their professional journey and a significant step toward advancing excellence in public relations within the Nigeria Customs Service.
