Okpoko General Hospital Records Safe Delivery of Triplets Under Soludo’s Free Maternal Healthcare Initiative
The Anambra State Government’s free maternal healthcare initiative has recorded another milestone with the successful delivery of triplets at Okpoko General Hospital, highlighting the programme’s impact in improving access to quality maternal and child healthcare.
The babies, comprising two girls and one boy, were safely delivered on July 6 under the state’s free maternal healthcare programme.
The mother, Mrs. Onyinyechi Ndubuisi, a native of Onu Eke in Ezza North Local Government Area of Ebonyi State who resides in Awada, Obosi, expressed gratitude to the Anambra State Government for providing free antenatal care, delivery services and caesarean section.
In a telephone interview, Mrs. Ndubuisi said the initiative relieved her family of the enormous financial burden associated with childbirth and ensured she received quality medical care without discrimination based on her state of origin.
She also commended the medical team at Okpoko General Hospital for their professionalism and dedication, particularly the doctor who successfully carried out neonatal resuscitation on the third baby.
Mrs. Ndubuisi encouraged expectant mothers to take advantage of government health facilities, noting that they are staffed by qualified doctors, nurses and other healthcare professionals capable of managing both routine and complicated deliveries.
She advised pregnant women to avoid unqualified birth attendants and seek skilled medical care throughout pregnancy and childbirth to safeguard the lives of both mothers and babies.
Expressing appreciation for the free healthcare services she received, Mrs. Ndubuisi prayed for God’s continued blessings upon Governor Chukwuma Soludo for prioritising maternal and child healthcare and making quality healthcare more accessible to residents of Anambra State.
